Purpose
For many years, Apth. Plaza Son Rigo and its new brand, Houm Hotels, have been committed to carrying out their activities in the most sustainable and responsible way possible. This commitment also applies to purchasing operations and the contracting of suppliers. These activities are always carried out within an operational framework that, while meeting the company’s needs, seeks to reduce costs and increase revenue without compromising quality or, consequently, sustainability.
The purpose of this document is therefore to establish a framework for the Purchasing Department and its supervision, ensuring a balanced and sustainable approach throughout the company’s activities. It also aims to maintain a relationship of trust with suppliers, a key stakeholder group, ensuring that this relationship is mutually satisfactory and long-lasting.
General Purchasing Policy of Houm Hotels
Economic Conditions
Houm Plaza Son Rigo will always seek to ensure the profitability of its operations within a legal and responsible framework. Profitability is the foundation and essential support of any business, particularly in the case of a family-run SME.
Delivery Times and Quality of Service
Delivery times must meet the requirements of Houm Plaza Son Rigo, as must the quality maintained throughout the production chain of the goods or services to be purchased.
This is particularly important for food products. Their receipt will be governed by Plan 5, dedicated to Suppliers, within the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) self-monitoring system, which establishes the hotel’s procedures and quality standards governing, among other aspects, the receipt of goods.
Purchasing Optimisation and Inventory Management
Through the implementation and continuous improvement of digital logistics management systems, Houm Hotels will seek to optimise product turnover and storage. Particular attention will be paid to batch traceability, expiry dates and/or best-before dates, ensuring that waste caused by expiry is kept to a minimum.
For products with a best-before date that have not been used within the established period:
The supplier/manufacturer will be contacted to determine the period during which the product can still be safely consumed. Written confirmation will always be requested.
Any authorised product will be used exclusively for internal consumption. Under no circumstances will it be sold to customers.
Geographical Area of Influence
For various reasons, Houm Plaza Son Rigo promotes purchasing and contracting with local or national suppliers. In the first instance, these relationships tend to be more direct, trustworthy and productive. In this way, we also remain true to our commitment to local economic and social development, contributing to job creation.
Type of Business: Manufacturer, Importer, Exporter, Distributor, Installer and/or Technical Service Provider
The type of business will be determined according to the specific requirements of each purchase or transaction. Whenever possible, however, we will seek to reduce the number of intermediaries between the beginning of the production chain and our acquisition.
Responsible and Sustainable Suppliers
Houm Plaza Son Rigo considers it a priority to engage and collaborate with suppliers that share our commitment and determination to operate responsibly and sustainably in taxation, employment practices, Human Rights and environmental protection.
Suppliers are expected to manage their businesses ethically, in line with the principles upheld by our company, and to comply fully with the legislation in force in every country in which they operate.
All suppliers will be made aware of our commitment to Social Responsibility and our support for initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact and Travelife.
Environmentally Friendly or Environmentally Certified Products
When choosing between two products or suppliers with similar characteristics, preference will be given to those holding an environmental seal or certification, as well as to energy-efficient products, products bearing the Ecolabel, environmentally friendly products and locally produced goods.
Relationship with Suppliers
Our relationship with suppliers, as with all other stakeholders, will always be respectful, ethical, honest and based on trust.
Relationships with our suppliers will be governed by the principles of objectivity, transparency, non-exclusivity and equal opportunities.
Every supplier involved in an awarding or selection process will receive complete information regarding the product or service to be supplied, without any supplier being given an unfair advantage over others.
Continuous improvement plans will be established with suppliers to increase quality and generate benefits for both parties. Suppliers are also encouraged to submit any suggestions they consider appropriate to improve the relationship between both parties.
Any supplier considering working with Houm Hotels must demonstrate a strong commitment to its supply chain. Suppliers must respect internationally recognised Human Rights and ensure that their business operations do not violate or contribute to abuses of these rights. Partner suppliers must treat their employees with dignity and respect, comply with Spanish legislation and prevent physical punishment, harassment and abuse of power. Finally, suppliers must promote and respect the 10 basic principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
